Palm’s new Touchstone is one of the hottest mobile phone accessories of all time and it is so incredible to be able to charge your phone without opening the port and plugging it in every time. This comes in particularly handy when you always have a lot going on with your phone throughout the day (probably the reason you need to charge it).

Unfortunately some of the Touchstones that have been sent out are plagued with the “DingDong” bug where the magnetic coil on the inside is not aligned properly. Manufacturing is to blame because the coils are held in with nothing more than a bit of glue and we all know glue is no way to keep electronics together.

There are a number of do it yourself fixes that work for some but not for others so we recommend you just get yourself a replacement rather than living with the problem. Apparently this problem is so frequent that Palm has removed the charging tone from webOS when the phone is placed on the Touchstone so that it is either less noticeable or so the user can get a good nights rest.
